THE DATES: Sun. April 23rd, EarthFair 2006 in Balboa Park from
10am to 5pm ~ Join AFDOP for the 17th Annual EarthFair!!
EarthFair
is the largest free annual environmental fair in the world. Each year,
the EarthFair draws around 60,000 visitors. Exhibitors represent every
type of environmental organization, governmental program and commercial
enterprise with goods, services and causes that address our environment
and quality of life.
This is the second year that AFDOP has reserved a booth at EarthFair.
Last year we had tremendous success in distributing materials about the
Department of Peace Bill to hundreds of interested attendees. We will
also, once again, be displaying the Marianne Williamson/Dennis Kucinich
video and asking for
donations for Department of Peace buttons, bumper stickers, t-shirts and
business cards. This is a great opportunity for you to enjoy the EarthFair
while advocating for the Department of Peace Bill.
We need your support in staffing the ADFOP EarthFair booth between the
hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., including setup and take-down. If you
can dedicate two or three hours, please email us and let us know what
time you will commit to staffing the booth. If you are able to help take
materials to and/or from the event to set up and/or take down, please
let us know that also. We will provide information about our booth location
as soon as it has been assigned.

February 14, 2006 at 12:15 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
WHAT: California Senate
Action Day!
WHERE: See the list of offices
below
PLEASE IF YOU CAN'T BE PHYSICALLY PRESENT,
BE SURE TO CALL SEN. BOXER AND SENATOR FEINSTEIN'S OFFICE ON THAT DAY
AND EXPRESS YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE DOP BILL! (Phone numbers below)
Join your fellow Department of Peace supporters as we make a coordinated
effort to enroll Senators Feinstein and Boxer in supporting the Department
of Peace legislation!
We'll be meeting simultaneously at all ten California Senate offices (six
for Senator Boxer, four for Senator Feinstein) throughout the state. We'll
bring giant cookie hearts (which can be bought at Mrs. Fields or other
local bake shops) with a small sliver equal to 2 percent of the heart
cut out representing the tiny investment we're asking our country to make
in peace.
This is a critical time for our campaign. The sponsor and co-sponsor of
the DoP bill in the Senate are both retiring at the end of this term,
and we must find new champions for peace. Who better than Senators Feinstein
and Boxer? It's time for California to step up and be the leader that
it is and show the nation that Peace is Our Priority! All you need to
do is show up wearing DoP T-shirts and/or buttons, and be counted!
Please RSVP via e-mail with John McNeil,
Southern California Regional Co-coordinator, ASAP
Tell him
1) Which office you'll go to (see the list below)
2) If you can give or need a ride
3) What other role (if any) you'd like to play (see below)
4) How many other people you can bring with you
5) If you're willing to travel to another office where we need more people
It's important you RSVP so we can provide an estimate of participants
for our press releases!
If you can also provide additional support, please let us know.

local grassroots groups and their leaders who work to create a culture

Breakfast” is sure to be a deeply moving and uplifting event.
For the second year, the event includes “Community Space”
for tabling to provide event attendees with an opportunity to become familiar
with a broad range of organizations providing support and services to
the community. AFDOP will once again participate in the Community Space
